    Notes
    • GODPARENT: Catherine Kubick nata Remias.

NOTE : John Haluska may not be the biological son of Karol Stermenskzy. He is born before his mother's marriage to Karol . However , he is listed as John Stermensky in the 1869 census. In his marriage record , he seem to have kept the Haluska name throughout his life.

DEATH : Date of death is in Preist's notes in margin.

NOTE : Although he is listed in 1869 census as John Stermensky and born 1858 , in Jablonca Catholic records baptisms ,it appears he was born at Jablonca #75 ,Susanna Haluska was the mother of a John Haluska , b. 7 Feb 1858 in Jablonca , baptized in Jablonca Catholic . On his birth record , the fathers not listed and he is listed as " son of Susanna who is the daughter of " Inquillanus ( note : her father , John Haluska ) " of Jablonca 75 .Godparents : Catherine Kubick nata Remias ( may be the village midwife )" . The father could be Stermenzsky but for sure , this John Haluska is the John Stermenzsky listed in 1869 census as Gramma's brother , John .

NOTE : From a story Uncle Ernie told of his Mother's family , there was a brother named John and there was a problem with who would own the Haluska land after the mother died. Not conclusive but I believe this John Haluska is the half-brother of Mary Stermenszky Nagy and he is the one that stayed behind in Hungary on the family land .

BIRTHDATE : Illigimate son of Susanna Haluska Sterminsky. He was born before she married Karoly . I wonder if he is even Karol's son as in the 1869 census , he is listed as "John Stirminsky ". Uncle Ernie said his mother had two brothers:" John & Dan ".His baptismal record is in Jablonca Catholic.

Also Susanna was listed as a " widow " when she married Karol Sterminsky. I think this is Gramma's half-brother and it would make sense that Haluska , as eldest child , inherit the Haluska land plot through his mother , Zsusanna . Uncle Ernie also said there was a family feud about it - perhaps this is why Daniel , the younger brother , went to America .Then went back after John Hauska died . However , in the baptismal record of John Haluska's daughter , Daniel Stermenzsky , his half-brother ,is the godparent.

MARRIAGE RECORD : Marriage record gave his age , house # in Jablonca ,and described him as " illigitimate son of Zseller , Zsusanne Hauska " of Jablonca 78.

NOTE : Although he is listed in 1869 census as John Stermensky and born 1858 , a " John or Janos Stremenskzy " does not appear in Jablonca Catholic records baptisms .

NOTE : Although he is listed in 1869 census as born in 1868 , he does not appear in Jablonca Catholic records baptisms between his sister Julia ( b. 1867 ) & his brother , Daniel ( b. 1869 ).
